City Tournament Information

May is here and many teams are in the midst of their City Tournaments. Here is a summary of each team's tournament information: Baseball | #2 Seed | May 7, 9 & 13 The baseball team begins their City Tournament this evening when they host Christel House (0-4-1) at 5:30pm. The #2 seeded Warriors currently sit at an overall record of 9-6 (4-2 in conference), and are favored to advance to Friday's semi-finals. They will then host the winner of Heritage Christian (#3, 9-4) and Scecina Memorial (6-10) this Friday, May 9 at 5:30pm. The championship will be next Tuesday, May 13 at the highest seed's location. Cathedral (#1, 10-6) and Bishop Chatard are likley to meet in the other semi-final. Come out and support your Warriors at home! Tickets start at $7.00 for adults, and $3.00 for students. All attendees must purchase a ticket, including Shield Club members and our students. Boys Golf | May 8 | @ South Grove Golf Course The golf team competes this Thursday, May 8 at South Grove Golf Course starting at 9am. Joe Midla and Connor Clark have posted the best scores throughout the season, averaging 41 & 42 on 9 holes. Caleb Faris will be in the #3 position for Covenant, followed by Andrew Herbert and Mason Ellis. Individual golfers who finish in the top 10 will make the All-City Team. The team has an overall record of 6-3, and recently finished 4th out of 13 in this past weekend's Cougar Golf Invitational in Seymour, IN. Softball | #3 Seed | May 3, 9 & 10 Softball started their City Tournament this past Saturday after defeating Herron 10-5. They advanced to this Friday's semi-final, which will be held at Bishop Chatard at 5:30pm. The Warriors (10-8, 2-0 in conference) lost to the Trojans (13-8), 6-7, at the end of April, but are poised to battle for a shot at advancing to the City Championship, which will be this Saturday, May 10 at the top seed's location. The other semi-final includes Cathedral (#1, 17-0) and Heritage Christian (#4, 5-9). Girls Tennis | May 15 & 17 | @ Riverside Park The girls tennis team will compete in their tournament starting next Thursday, May 15 in the quarterfinals. Winners will advance to the semi-finals and finals on Saturday, May 17, starting at 9am. The team is having a successful campaign, recording a 10-2 overall record to date. They finished in 2nd place this past weekend at the ICC conference tournament, where Emma Crane (1S, runner-up), and Morgan/Marlee Meunier & Rebecca Roth (2Ds champions) earned All-Conference team. Track & Field | May 12 (Girls) & May 14 (Boys) | @ Marian University The girls will compete this upcoming Monday, May 12 at Marian University. Field events begin at 5:30pm, followed by the 4x800m relay at 5:45pm. The boys will also compete at Marian on Wednesday, May 14 with the same start times. The team has strong relays (boys 4x800 & 4x400, and girls 4x400) that have continually strengthened throughout the season, as well as a young boys distance group that also aims to be competitive this year and in years to come. Tickets for the events are $7.00 for adults and $3 for high school ages & younger. Boys Volleyball | Completed | Semi-Finalist The volleyball team competed in the City's inaugural tournament two week's ago, where they finished in the top four after losing to Cathedral in the semi-finals. They opened up tournament play with a 3-0 win over Arsenal Tech, and then defeated Herron High School, 3-2. The team has an impressive overall record of 15-4 (4-1 in conference), and will host the team's first invitational this Saturday, May 10. More information will also be released regarding the inagural IHSAA tournament, which begins next week!
