The IHSAA recently released the Girls Basketball State Tournament draw, marking the 50th anniversary of the State Tournament, presented by the Indiana Fever and Indiana Pacers. The Warriors are part of Sectional #42, hosted by Monrovia, with six teams vying for the sectional title: Cardinal Ritter, Monrovia, Park Tudor, Riverside, University, and Covenant. Covenant (15-7) will open play on Tuesday, February 4 at 7:30 p.m. against conference opponent Cardinal Ritter (8-12) in a matchup that marks the third meeting between the two teams this season. The Warriors won both previous matchups, 62-30 in the regular season and 68-33 in the City Tournament. If they win, Covenant will advance to face University (8-11) on Friday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors also came out on top in their regular season contest with the Trailblazers, winning 55-53 in a nail-biter. On the opposite side of the bracket, Monrovia (15-7) will play Park Tudor (10-8), with the winner advancing to face Riverside (6-9). The winners of Friday's games will meet for the sectional championship on Saturday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. All games will be held at Monrovia. Last season, the Warriors finished as sectional runners-up, defeating University 56-47 before falling to Sheridan 28-47 in the final. This year's team is led by a strong group of seniors, but will also rely on contributions from underclassmen as they aim for the program's ninth sectional title.
