Conference Meet Recap

The boys and girls swim team competed in the Indiana Crossroads Conference Meet this past Saturday at Beech Grove High School. Despite the team's size, the girls were able to tie for second place with Speedway (95), while the host Hornets finished first with 110 points. On the boys side, Scecina Memorial were crowned Conference Champions with 151 points. The Warriors had numerous podium finishes, including five first place finishes. Those who won events earned All-Conference honors, including Ava Smith in the 200m Free (2:12.06) & 100m Back (1:09.01), and Madi Eagen in the 200m IM (2:26.82) & 100m Breast (1:14.32). The 200m Free Relay of Madi, Olivia Ray, Lily Sturgis, & Ava also finished in first place with a time of 2:00.37. Other podium finishes included: 200m Free Lillie Sefton (5th, 2:28.93) 50m Free = Lily Sturgis (3rd, 30.81) 100m Free = Lillie Sefton (3rd, 1:18.10) / James Bonikowske (2nd, 57.78) 100m Breast = Lily Sturgis (2nd, 1:28.06) / James Bonikowske (2nd, 1:18.67) The Warriors are back in action tomorrow at Decatur Central. They will round out the regular season at Pike on January 21 and the Schools With No Pools meet at IU's Natatorium on January 28. The girls will enter the postseason at Brownsburg on February 6, while boys will compete in their sectional at Pike on February 20.
