Despite both starting varsity setters being out with injuries until April, CCHS boys volleyball is optimistic about their prospects for the 2024 spring season. The athleticism and versatility on this year's team is exciting and full of potential. The Warriors floated right around the .500 mark for most of the season last year, facing opponents with wide ranging sizes and skill. With the emerging status of boys volleyball in the IHSAA tournament series, more and more schools have started programs. The sport is gaining great momentum and anticipates full adoption by the association! This will open up more opportunities for the Warriors to compete with schools of like size and competition level in the near future. The 2024 schedule includes some exciting new invitationals including the Monrovia Madness in March Tournament and the Harrison (Lafayette) Round Robin. Head coach Erin Oppy had this to say about this year's group: "We expect strong leadership from returning varsity starters Ryan Burris and Mark Crane, and we are excited about newcomer Joe Geimer's leadership at the libero position." Covenant boys volleyball will kick off the season at New Palestine on Monday, March 11 with JV at 6 and varsity at 7 p.m. They will travel to Monrovia on Tuesday before their home opener against Avon on Thursday, March 14.
