Tonight kicks off the 2023-24 IHSAA swimming season, and your Warrior swim team is headed to Beech Grove for a meet with the Hornets as well as Park Tudor. This year's team is compiled of seven girls, but there are no boys swimmers this time around. Senior Nyah Cottee-Pruitt and junior Shelby Olmstead are returners and will provide leadership for this relatively young group. The rest of the team is made up of sophomores Abby Gibson and Gretchen Monday along with a trio of freshman in Ava Smith, Lillie Sefton, and Liel Watkins. First year head coach, Scott Hickman, is excited to work with this group and build up the program. He has been leading practices at the Pike High School pool, and he sees great potential in this group of girls. In fact, based on some of the times the girls have put together so far in practice, he would not be surprised to see some school records fall by the end of the season. The Warriors next action after Beech Grove will come at Southport for the Cardinal Classic on Saturday, December 2.
