Boys Soccer Returns to the State Finals!

For the second time in three years, the boys soccer team is back in the State Finals! After winning the State title in 2024 and a Regional title in 2025, the Warriors were moved up to Class 2A but have continued to find success despite the challenge. Covenant (#5, 17-2) began its postseason run by defeating Christel House (3-0), Indianapolis Washington (6-0), and Cardinal Ritter (3-0) to secure its fifth consecutive Sectional title. The Warriors then defeated Connersville (3-0) and Danville (1-0) in a double-overtime thriller to claim their third straight Regional title. Last year, the Warriors fell to eventual State Champion Blackhawk Christian in penalty kicks. Determined not to repeat that result, the team traveled to Evansville and secured its ticket back to the Finals with a 2-1 victory over Gibson Southern. Now, Covenant looks to secure the program's second State title and the school's third on Saturday against a talented Hammond Bishop Noll (#2, 17-2-2) team. Bishop Noll, also known as the Warriors, defeated the #2 seed Mishawaka Marian and #1 seed Guerin Catholic on its way to the Finals. Saturday's matchup promises to be a defensive battle, as Bishop Noll has not allowed a goal in its last five tournament games. Covenant's defense has been equally impressive all season, allowing just five goals across all competitions. Senior goalkeeper Owen Hitchcock has recorded 14 shutouts this season. Meanwhile, the Warriors have scored 49 goals, led by sophomores Mason Stephens (16 goals, 8 assists) and Noah Blomberg (9 goals, 8 assists). Saturday will mark the program's fifth appearance in the State Finals, following previous appearances in 2012, 2017, 2018, and 2024—all in Class 1A. Now, the Warriors have an opportunity to make history by winning the program's first Class 2A championship. Let's give the team all the support we can this week as they prepare for Saturday! We hope to see everyone at Carroll Stadium on Saturday morning. Game details are below, and we invite fans to gather at Covenant at 8:45 a.m. before heading to the game. After the game, join us back at Covenant to celebrate the team and its season.
