For the 10th time in program history, the girls tennis team is sectional champions! The Warriors defeated Speedway (5-0), Ben Davis (5-0), and Tri-West (5-0) on their way to the title. They have the longest sectional streak across all programs, dating back to 2018. With the victory, the team is now tied for third-most sectional titles among all Covenant athletic programs (boys soccer – 12, boys tennis – 11, girls basketball – 10). Monday’s championship also marked a major milestone for Coach Sean Bird, who earned his 100th career victory as the girls coach in his 10th season leading the program. The Warriors will face Franklin Central this afternoon in the first round of regionals at North Central High School. Match time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Junior Emma Crane has held the No. 1 singles position all season. Last year, she advanced to the singles tournament championship, and this spring she earned both All-City and All-Conference honors, including a conference championship. At No. 1 doubles, sisters Emi Flatt (12) and Izzy Flatt (10) have continued their successful partnership. The duo also earned All-City and All-Conference recognition this season. Emi has recorded 20 career wins, while Izzy has added 15. Rounding out the lineup are senior Abby Gibson at No. 2 singles, junior Rebecca Roth at No. 3 singles, and senior sisters Marlee and Morgan Meunier at No. 2 doubles. As a team, the Warriors lost just four matches all season — against Cathedral, Bishop Chatard, University, and Avon — while finishing second in the conference and fourth at the City Tournament.
