Warriors Set for Sectional Clash with Cardinal Ritter

The Warriors (10-12) are ready for the postseason as they head to Park Tudor Tuesday night, February 3, for the high-stakes opening round of the IHSAA Class 2A Girls Basketball State Tournament. The Warriors will face off against the Cardinal Ritter Raiders (6-16) at 7:30 p.m.. While the Warriors have the edge in the season series, they know the postseason is a different beast. Covenant has already defeated the Raiders twice this year—a close 50-46 battle in November and a more dominant 43-26 victory in early January. The Warriors also enter the tournament with momentum after finishing the regular season with a strong 51-22 win over Lutheran to finish 4-1 in the Indiana Crossroads Conference. The Warriors have relied on a balanced lineup and defensive intensity to stay competitive throughout the season: • Abbey Jankowski (Sophomore): The leading scorer, averaging 11.1 points per game. • Emi Flatt (Senior): Provides a veteran interior presence with 8.8 points per contest and steady rebounding. • Emma Crane (Junior): The primary playmaker, averaging 6.2 assists and leading the defense with 3.4 steals per game. • Isla Haffner (Freshman): Has emerged as a critical scoring threat, providing the team with much-needed depth heading into the bracket. A win tomorrow night would set up a challenging semifinal matchup this Friday, February 6, against University. The Warriors narrowly edged out University 39-36 on January 10, suggesting another thriller to advance to the championship. If the Warriors can navigate the first two rounds, the championship game is set for Saturday, February 7 at 7:00pm. On the other side of the bracket, Park Tudor (10-11) will open up against Riverside (5-13), with Monrovia awaiting the winner in Friday's semifinals. Both Park Tudor (38-24) and Monrovia (54-50) defeated the Warriors in the regular season, giving Covenant a clear path for redemption as they aim for their first sectional title since 2020.
