In a closely contested game against sectional opponent University, Covenant Christian boys basketball dropped their first game of the season. A tough shooting night from the floor and the free-throw line kept Covenant with their backs against the wall for the majority of the game.
University did a good job of keeping the game close through all four quarters. The Trailblazers got off to a quick 10-0 run to start the game, but the Warriors fought back to take the lead to finish the first quarter. Covenant held the lead until the end, but a few turnovers and missed free-throws left the door open for University to take the lead with under 2 minutes to play in the final quarter. The Trailblazers held onto the lead to win 57-60.
The boys get a chance to get back on track on Saturday against Heritage Christian in a conference matchup. Freshman will start at 4:30pm, followed by JV at 6:00pm and varsity at 7:30pm.
