Sheer Craziness . . .

There’s no other words to describe the latest chapter in the Cathedral/Covenant rivalry in Boys Soccer in the City Tournament that occurred Tuesday night in the semifinals, than sheer craziness. Covenant had to wait until Monday night to take on Herron HS in the quarterfinals due to a scheduling issue with officials on Saturday.  CCHS

Covenant had two flights represented in the finals of the Boys Tennis City Tournament last night, but came up on the short end, as Cathedral won all five flights to win the City title. Boys Tennis Advances Two Flights to City Finals

The Boys Tennis team competed in the City Tournament preliminary rounds on Saturday, and advanced two flights to Monday’s finals.  Seniors Luke Shelton at #3 Singles and Graham Shelton and Matthew Wilson at #1 Doubles will all compete in the finals on Monday at Riverside Park. XC Has “Best Effort” of the Season

The Cross Country team competed in the Golden Bear Invitational, hosted by Shelbyville HS, at the Blue River Memorial Park on Saturday.  Two female runners and five male runners hit personal records in the meet for CCHS, which led to the Warriors placing third out of the thirteen teams in the Boys Small School race. 

City Soccer Tournament Updates

The 2020 City Soccer Tournament for both the boys and girls soccer teams kicked off on Saturday morning.  The Covenant boys team, the #4 seed in this year’s bracket, hosted Scecina Memorial HS at 9:00am.  The Warriors controlled the action throughout much of the first half, but were unable to crack the scoreboard.  Senior Eli

FB Knocks Off Heritage Christian

The Football team (6-0) stayed unbeaten on the season with a big win to knock off Class 2A #3 Heritage Christian (4-1), 36-21 on Friday night to spoil the Eagles’ Homecoming game. The Warriors came into the game with their highest ranking in program history, claiming the #8 spot in the Associated Press Class 1A

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The National Football League (NFL) has traditionally represented this by players wearing the color of breast cancer awareness, pink, throughout the month of October.  Two of the Covenant Athletic teams are making an additional effort to help others affected by cancer. Boys Tennis City Tournament Draw Released

The City Alliance Boys Tennis Coaches met virtually on Wednesday night to determine the seeds for the 2020 City Tournament, which will be played on September 25-28 at Riverside Park.  The City Tournament competes in flights as opposed to team vs. team, with individual wins earning points towards the team competition. Boys Tennis Drops Two Tight Matches

City Alliance Releases Girls Volleyball City Tournament Draw

The City Alliance released the draw for 2020 Girls Volleyball City Tournament earlier this week.  The JV and varsity tournaments will be played simultaneously on October 5-8, 2020.  The brackets were determined via coaches input to determine seeds for the fourteen participating teams at the varsity level, with the JV bracket mirroring the varsity bracket
