Coach Dan Nietz was named as the eighth head coach in Lady Warriors’ program history. Nietz will take over the program from Coach Amanda Brown, who stepped down at the end of the 2019-20 season. The Lady Warriors won their sixth consecutive sectional title in 2019-20, going 17-9, falling to Class 2A #1 ranked Triton Central HS in the regional semifinal. Brown compiled a 51-28 record in three seasons at the helm of the Lady Warriors.
Nietz grew up and played his high school basketball at Emmanuel Christian in Toledo, Ohio, before playing a standout four-year career at Baptist Bible College (Clarks Summit, PA). Nietz’s coaching career has spanned 15 seasons, with a head coaching stop at Bethesda Christian School and assistant coaching positions at Covenant Christian HS, Beech Grove HS, and Carmel HS. Nietz helped the Lady Greyhounds to a 15-8 record with Head Coach Erin Trimpe in their first season at CHS in 2019-20, falling to Hamilton Southeastern HS and Indiana Miss Basketball Sydney Parrish 51-44 in the first round of Sectional #8 play. In the 2018-19 season, Coach Nietz was on the Boys Basketball coaching staff at Beech Grove HS, which dealt with the passing of their former head coach and athletic director, Matt English, and helped the Hornets win their first sectional title in eleven seasons.
Coach Nietz is a Physical Education teacher at the Sense Charter School in Indianapolis, where he has taught since 2008.
Nietz will bring a calm demeanor and a passion for individual skill development in his new role as the head coach of the Lady Warriors. “I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to lead the Covenant Christian Girls’ Basketball program. I’m looking forward to getting to know the girls, and build upon the success the program has had the last several years.”
