The City Alliance has released the draws for this year’s City Soccer Tournaments following yesterday’s monthly City Alliance Athletic Director’s Meeting. The City Soccer Tournaments will be played on September 26-30 this year. The draw seeds the top four teams in both the boys and girls tournaments, with the remaining teams slotted in the bracket via a blind draw. Seeds are determined by input from City Alliance coaches based on state rankings, team records, and head-to-head or mutual opponents results if possible. The disruption of team’s schedules due to Covid has added another wrinkle into this year’s seeding as well.
In the Boys bracket, Covenant (2-3) received the #4 seed and will host Scecina Memorial HS in the first round on Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 am. The winner of that match will advance to face the winner of Herron HS/Purdue Polytechnic HS in the quarterfinals. That winner will face #1 seed Cathedral HS in the semifinals on Monday, September 28. On the other side of the bracket, Cardinal Ritter HS picks up the #2 seed, while Heritage Christian is slated as the #3 seed. Click here for the complete 2020 Boys Soccer City Tournament bracket.
In the Girls tournament, defending champion Cathedral HS received the #1 seed, with last year’s City runners-up, Bishop Chatard HS as the #2 seed. Heritage Christian is the #3 seed, followed by Cardinal Ritter HS as the #4 seed. Covenant Christian HS (1-4), in a rebuilding season, is unseeded and will face Arsenal Tech HS in the first round at Cardinal Ritter HS at 10:30am on Saturday, September 26. The winner of the CCHS/ATHS will move on to face the winner of Ritter/Herron HS in the quarterfinals. That match will be played at CRHS on September 26 at 7:00pm.
