The Circle City Conference released the 2019-20 All-Conference Team for Boys Basketball over the weekend. CCHS (19-7, 4-1), which went 4-1 in conference play to take second place in their second season in the CCC, is well represented, as three Warriors made the All-Conference Team. 2019-20 Boys Basketball All-Conference Team.
The All-CCC team is selected as each coach nominates up to four of their own players, submitting statistics and facts to support that player’s nomination. Those nominations are then voted on by all of the head coaches of the Circle City Conference, with top ten vote getters making the selection for the All-Conference Team.
Seniors Noah Hedrick and Cam Shurig as well as Junior Trey Flatt were all voted onto the All-Conference Team. This marks the second year in a row that both Shurig and Flatt made the All-CCC Team. Hedrick, led CCHS in scoring with 17.5 ppg, to go along with 5.1 rpg, and 1.5 spg. In his four conference games, Hedrick averaged 14.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 1.5 bpg. Flatt averaged 14.0 ppg on the season, leading the Warriors in both assists (4.0 apg) and steals (2.0 spg). In five conference games in 2019-20, Flatt totaled 14.4 ppg, 4.0 apg, 3.2 rpg, and 2.0 spg. Shurig, a versatile defender for CCHS, averaged 12.7 ppg, leading the Warriors in rebounds per game at 5.3, along with 3.1 apg and 1.9 spg. In three CCC games, Shurig averaged 12.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, and 2.0 apg.
The top vote-getter on this year’s All-CCC selections, Brebeuf Jesuit Prep Senior Jay Higgins. Higgins helped lead BJPS to their third straight CCC title, averaging 16.7 ppg and 6.7 rpg. Higgins is joined on the All-CCC team by teammates Sophomore Billy Smith and Junior Evan Altman. Smith averaged 16.0 ppg, while Altman tallied 11.8 rpg for the season, 7.5 rpg in conference play.
Guerin Catholic HS Senior Bernie McGuinness led the CCC in scoring during the 2019-20 season, averaging 20.7 ppg to go along with 7.1 rpg. Joining McGuinness on the All-Conference team is GCHS Junior guard Joseph Bobilya. Bobilya averaged 11.5 ppg to go with 2.7 apg.
Rounding out the other two All-Conference selections are Senior Edreece Redmond from Bishop Chatard HS and Daniel Asher from Roncalli HS. Redmond averaged 16.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, and 2.6 spg while leading the resurgent Trojans to a 15-9 record. Redmond was also selected to the All-City and All-City Tournament teams in 2019-20. Asher, a 6’7″ senior, was one of the top big men in the Circle City Conference this season, averaging 10.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg.
