Coach Amanda Brown, the Covenant Girls Basketball Coach for the last three seasons, announced to her team on Friday afternoon, that she has resigned her coaching position, effective immediately. Brown, a math teacher at CCHS, will continue on in her teaching role.
Brown compiled a 51-28 record in three seasons after taking over the Lady Warriors program in June, 2017 when Coach Joe Smith left to take over the girls basketball program at Speedway HS after four seasons at CCHS. Brown’s teams won sectional titles in each of her three seasons. CCHS compiled a 5-5 record in their first two seasons in the Circle City Conference under Coach Brown.
Brown made the decision to step away from the program in order to spend more time focusing on other opportunities she would like to pursue in the future.
The Athletic Department will start a search for Coach Brown’s replacement immediately. Covenant Christian HS is seeking a strong Christian to lead the Girls Basketball program. All Covenant coaches should exemplify personal and professional characteristics that we strive to teach our student athletes, pushing them both academically and to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. The position will include but not be limited to spiritual mentorship, growth and development of the program, administration of the program, oversight of coaching staff, and practice and game instruction.
Covenant desires that student athletes possess Christ-like characteristics and are able to express them openly through the medium of sports. Our goal is to build eternal values in the students, while at the same time be a testimony of the power of Jesus Christ to all of those that we come in contact with during athletic events. Winning is important, but it is secondary to the Godly principles that the program is striving to instill into the student athlete.
