The Boys Basketball team (12-6, 4-1) jumped out to an early lead with some hot shooting from 3-point range, leading to a 94-49 win over local rival Speedway HS (3-13).

The Warriors started the game on a 21-4 run, as CCHS hit six 3-pointers in the first quarter, and went 9-for-11 from distance in the first half.  Covenants’ depth and pressure, combined with their shooting percentage early, did not allow the Sparkplugs to breathe, and put the game out of reach early.

Junior Trey Flatt led the scoring attack, netting a game-high 24 points to go with 5 boards, 5 assists, and 2 steals.  Seniors Noah Hedrick and Cam Shurig each added 17 and 16 points respectively, while Hedrick grabbed 8 rebounds and for the second game in a row, handed out five assists.  Shurig also recorded 5 assists, part of the 26 assists as a team for the Warriors.  Junior Bryan Lomax had another efficient night off of the bench, scoring 8 points on 3-4 shooting, to go with 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 11 minutes of play.  Senior Drew Valentine led SHS with 16 points.

The Warriors will be part of the Basketball Day in Indiana celebrations throughout the state on Saturday, as they welcome the Trojans of Covington HS (12-4) to the Fieldhouse.  With it being Girls Basketball sectional weekend, game times are slated for a 1:00/2:30pm start time.  The varsity game will be webcast on Indiana SRN, beginning with the pregame show at 2:15pm.
