Girls Varsity Basketball · GBB Outlasts South Vermillion

The Girls Basketball team (8-5, 2-2) outlasted the Lady Wildcats of South Vermillion HS on Saturday, winning 53-42.

CCHS pulled away in the second quarter, using a 21-11 quarter to build a 10-point halftime lead.  SVHS battled back in the third, but Covenant was able to pull away again and seal the game away in the fourth quarter.

Senior Ilani Williams-Harris continued her strong senior season, scoring 19 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals.  Sophomore Samara Douglas added 17 points, providing great strength in the post.  Covenant was able to dominate the game in the paint, outscoring SVHS 26-12 in the paint, and shot a great percentage for the game, being very efficient.  Covenant also turned Wildcat turnovers into 20 points.

Covenant will hit the road Tuesday night to face T.C. Howe CHS at 6:00 pm.
