The Girls Basketball team (3-2, 0-1) rallied to win a back and forth game over Bloomington North HS on Saturday, winning 64-57 in overtime.  The win gives the Lady Warriors a split of the two games on their schedule this week, as CCHS lost their first Circle City Conference game of the season on Tuesday night versus Bishop Chatard HS.  Chatard used a second quarter run to beat Covenant 58-47.

BNHS started to pull away with a short run that spanned the end of the first quarter and early second quarter, pushing the Cougars lead out to 20-11.  But the Lady Warriors, despite a tough shooting start, battled to stay in the game and closed the gap to 26-21 by halftime.  A strong third quarter offensively for CCHS, pulled the Lady Warriors into a 41-41 tie going into the final eight minutes.  Senior Ilani Williams-Harris scored 16 of her game-high 27 points in their third quarter, including three of her five 3-pointers.  The Covenant rally also coincided with BNHS star Senior Ainsley Urbanski having to go to the bench halfway through the third quarter after picking up her fourth foul of the game.  Urbanski scored a team-high 24 points on the night.

Covenant continued their strong play, working patiently to execute their offense, building an eight point lead coming down the stretch of the game.  Urbanski returned in the final four minutes of regulation, hitting four out of five free throws to help get the Cougars back into the game.  North actually took the lead late in the fourth, 54-53, and Senior Sania Borom hit one out of two foul shots in the final seconds to send the game to overtime.  Borom got to the line on Urbanski’s fifth foul.

CCHS played strong in the extra four minutes, outscoring the Cougars 10-4 in overtime.  Borom scored eight points in the fourth quarter and another five points in overtime, giving her 15 for the game.  Sophomore Samara Douglas had a team-high 8 rebounds, while fellow Sophomore Anna Guiff pulled down seven boards and handed out four assists.  Borom added six rebounds and three assists to her 15 points.

The Lady Warriors will hit the road on Tuesday night, as they travel to Lafayette Central Catholic HS for a 6/7:30 pm tip before Thanksgiving.
