The Girls Basketball team (2-1, 0-0) won their second consecutive game on Tuesday night, as they went to Sheridan HS (1-3) and picked up a 53-48 win.
The Lady Warriors stayed consistent throughout the game, playing well together in a balanced attack, and then used a strong fourth quarter from Seniors Sania Borom and Illani Williams-Harris to pull away. The Lady Blackhawks held a 13-12 lead after one quarter, and a 27-25 lead at halftime. CCHS cut that lead down to 37-36 after three quarters, and then used a 17-11 advantage in the final eight minutes for the win. Borom had 8 of her game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter. Williams-Harris poured in five of her 14 points in the final frame. Sophomores Anna Guiff and Samara Douglas led Covenant with 7 rebounds a piece. Guiff and fellow Sophomore Patty Chickamba each added eight points for the Lady Warriors, while Douglas handed out a team-high four assists. Borom also contributed three assists and five rebounds, while Williams-Harris passed out three assists and pulled down four boards.
Covenant returns to Andrew Smith Court at Warrior Fieldhouse on Tuesday, November 19 to open up Circle City Conference play against Bishop Chatard HS (2-1, 0-0) at 6:00/7:30 pm.
