Covenant competed in the IHSAA Sectional #18 at Ben Davis HS on Saturday morning. The Warriors had a strong day, as seven of the eight Warrior runners recorded personal records.
Sophomore Clayton Reichanadter was Covenant’s top finisher, hitting a PR of 17:01.89 to finish in 16th place as an individual. Junior Tim Skaggs was CCHS’ second runner to cross the finish line, also PRing with a time of 17:49.20, good for 35th place. The top ten finishers not on teams that advance move on to the regional round as individuals. Reichanadter was the top finishing individual not advancing with their team, while Skaggs was the eighth. Both will compete in Regional #9 at Ben Davis on Saturday, October 19.
Freshman Gabe Eaton also set a PR, finishing in 54th place in a time of 19:21.47. Senior Nate Sloan battled through a foot injury to place 56th (19:51.59). Freshman Aaron Manning finished in a PR time of 21:14.53 in 61st place, the Warriors fifth and final scoring position. Freshman Dawson Kester PR’ed in 62nd place just behind Manning in the time of 21:17.70. Sophomore Burke Wilhelmus also set a PR in the time of 23:16.32.
Zionsville CHS took first place overall in the team competition in the Boys race, with a score of 28. The other advancing teams are Ben Davis HS (80), Southport HS (85), Cardinal Ritter HS (98), and Perry Meridian HS (124). Decatur Central HS took sixth place (159), followed by Herron HS (176). Due to several injuries, CCHS only had one runner, Sophomore Brooklyn Stewart, compete in the girls race. Stewart also set a personal record, finishing in 54th place in the time of 26:45.05.
