The Girls Soccer team hung around for a long time last night in the #1 vs. #4 matchup in the City Tournament on Monday night, but fell to the Lady Irish 6-0.

Cathedral held a 1-0 advantage at halftime, after scoring the lone goal of the first half with about fifteen minutes remaining in the first frame.  The Irish capitalized early in the second half, as they received a penalty kick on an inadvertent hand ball on a ball going out of bounce.  The PK goal kept the score at 2-0 until 16:29 remaining in the game.  From that point on, the floodgates opened, as Cathedral scored four times in the final sixteen and a half minutes to pull away.

Cathedral will face #2 seed Bishop Chatard HS at Chatard on Wednesday night at 6:00 pm.  The Lady Trojans shutout #3 seed Heritage Christian 2-0 in the other semifinal.  The Girls City Final game will be followed up by the boys final, which will also pit the #1 seed Cathedral HS versus #2 seed Cardinal Ritter HS.  The Boys game is slated to kick off at 8:00 pm.
