The City Alliance released the draws for the 2019 City Soccer Tournaments out of the City Alliance Athletic Directors meeting on Tuesday. The brackets are determined by the voting of the City soccer coaches for the top five seeds, with the remaining teams slotted via a blind draw. The voting takes into account record, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, as well as results versus common opponents. This year’s tournaments are set to kick off on Saturday, September 28 with the first two rounds, with the semifinals to be played on Monday, September 30 and the finals on Wednesday, October 2. The higher seeds will host in the first two rounds, with the semifinals scheduled for Heritage Christian School (boys) and Bishop Chatard HS (girls). The finals for both the boys and the girls tournaments will once again be hosted at Bishop Chatard.
On the girls side, CCHS was voted as the #4 seed, and will host Scecina Memorial HS in the first round at home at 9:00 am on September 28. The CCHS/SMHS winner will advance to face the winner of Cardinal Ritter/Shortridge in the quarterfinals at Covenant at 3:00 pm. The quarterfinal winner will move on to face #1 seed Cathedral HS in the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, Bishop Chatard HS is the #2 seed, while Heritage Christian is the #3 seed. In the boys tournament, despite a slow start to the season, Covenant was voted as the #3 seed. The Warriors will have a first round bye and will face the winner of Crispus Attucks HS/Emmerich Manual CHS in the quarterfinals at home at 3:00 pm on September 28. The other seeded teams in the boys bracket are Cathedral HS (#1), Cardinal Ritter HS (#2), Heritage Christian (#4), and Scecina Memorial HS (#5).
