Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Shuts Out Monrovia

The Softball team (10-6-1) picked up their tenth win of the season on Saturday morning, shutting out the Lady Bulldogs of Monrovia HS (8-9) 8-0.  Sophomore Aubrey Jones pitched a complete game for the win.

The Lady Warriors got on the board early, as Senior Bailey Everett hit a 2-run home run to drive in two of the three innings that CCHS scored in the first inning.  Covenant added another four runs in the third inning to blow the game open.  Jones helped her own cause in the third with a RBI.  Her sister, Senior Sydney Jones and Sophomore Nicole Gruesser also both drove in runs in the third. Sophomore Brooklyn Bond, A. Jones, and Freshman Morgan Yeater each collected two hits a piece.

Jones pitched a complete game in the circle for the shutout, giving up four hits, striking out four, and allowing no walks.

Covenant closes out the regular season this week with road games at Beech Grove HS (Monday) and University HS (Thursday), the final home game of the regular season against Triton Central HS (HS), and then the Circle City Conference Champions Day on Saturday at Roncalli HS.
