The Baseball team (10-7, 4-5) picked up big Circle City Conference win last night, rallying to defeat Bishop Chatard HS 6-5. The win moves the Warriors into a tie at 4-5 in conference with the Trojans, with the last CCC regular season game between the two tonight at Chatard.
The game started as a pitchers dual, as both teams locked up in a scoreless tie through four innings. Chatard was the first to get on the board, as Junior Patrick Mastrian hit a bases loaded double in the top of the fifth to help the Trojans to a 4-0 lead. Covenant rallied back though, with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to regain the lead. The Warriors regained the lead for good with a two out single to centerfield by Senior Jake Brackett, driving in two runs. The Trojans threatened in the seventh, as they scored one run and left two men on base, as Junior Jack Hensley got a strikeout to end the game.
Hensley pitched two innings in relief to pick up his third win of the season (3-0), while Sophomore Darien Pugh pitched five innings, but got a no-decision.
