Boys Varsity Baseball · Baseball Drops CCC Regular Season Finale

The Baseball team (10-8, 4-6) dropped their Circle City Conference finale this afternoon, falling 4-1 to Bishop Chatard HS.  The loss moves the Trojans (14-5, 5-5) ahead of the Warriors in conference play.  Covenant, Chatard, and Brebeuf all came into today with a 4-5 CCC mark, fighting for the #3 seed going into next weekend’s Conference Tournament.  BJPS has one CCC game remaining, as the Braves are scheduled to face Heritage Christian on Thursday.  The conference tournament, scheduled for May 17-18 at Roncalli HS.  The #1 and #2 seeds will receive a bye in the first round, with the #3 seed taking on #6 seed and #4 versus #5.

Junior Brennan Moran pitched six innings for CCHS, giving up four earned runs, while striking out two and walking two.  Junior Bennett Rossetter pitched five innings for the Trojans to pick up the win.  Covenant Senior Jake Brackett went 3-for-4 on the game, while Senior Cam Collins picked up the Warriors’ lone RBI.

CCHS will face Cathedral HS in the City Tournament final on Friday night at Victory Field at 5:30 pm.  The County final, which pits the Falcons of Perry Meridian HS versus Lawrence North HS, will follow the City final at 8:00 pm.  Tickets are $5 and are available at the gate at the stadium.
