The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) released the draws for the 2019 State Tournaments for both Baseball and Softball. The Softball draw was released via the Selection Show aired on the IHSAA Champions Network (www.ihsaatv.org) last Sunday, and the Baseball draw was released in a similar manner last night. The draws for both tournaments were conducted blindly, using ping-pong balls and a lottery-style machine.
The Softball team, the defending Sectional #58 champion in Class 1A, will look to repeat in 2019. The Lady Warriors won the first ever sectional title in program history last year at Bethesda Christian. CCHS will host Sectional #58 this season at Wayne Sports Park. Providence Cristo Rey will face University HS in the first round, while CCHS will open up with Indiana School for the Deaf. Those first round games will take place on Monday, May 20th at 5:00/6:30 pm respectively. The winners of those two games will face each other in the semifinals on Tuesday, May 21 at 5:00 pm, while C.A. Tindley and Bethesda Christian, who both received first round byes, will square off in the other semifinal. The Sectional #58 final is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 at 5:30 pm.
The Baseball team is also the defending sectional champion in their Class 2A sectional, Sectional #43, which will be played at Park Tudor. The Warriors picked up a bye in the first round, and will face the winner of Cascade HS/Park Tudor in the semifinals on Monday, May 27. Shortridge HS and Speedway also received byes in the draw, and will square off in the other Sectional #43 semifinal on May 27. The sectional final will be played that night at Park Tudor. Exact game times are yet to be released.
