Both the Boys and Girls Track and Field teams competed at the Saints Invitational at Lutheran High School on Tuesday, April 9th.
The Girls team won with an overall team score of 178. Top performances came from Freshman Elizabeth Schafer (1st place in the 100m and 200m dash), Junior Ariel Velligan in the high jump (4’11”) and Sophomore Meghan Lepley in the high jump (a new PR at 4’8″) and Junior Emma Hunt in the 100m hurdles. The Lady Warriors had encouraging performances from Senior Sydney Sanders in the 100m dash, as well as Junior Kara Whitney in the long jump. CCHS scored a 178, followed by LHSI at 126, Hauser HS at 109, and University HS at 69. The Lady Warriors will compete in the Joe Schott Twilight Invitational at Decatur Central on Friday.
The Boys team came in second place to Lutheran 212-202. The team had strong performances from Senior Ben Dubke in the 100m hurdles (1st place, 16.54 secs), Senior Justin Foster in the 200m and 400m dash (1st place in both), Senior Logan Scott in the 300m hurdles (1st place, 42.5 secs) and a come-from-behind win from the boys 4x100m relay team of Senior Ethan Hurt, Sophomore Will Trapp, Senior Logan Scott and Sophomore Ben Bradley (45.72 secs). There were a lot of good runs from all team members. The future is bright for this team. LHSI scored 212, followed by CCHS at 202, Hauser HS at 68, University HS at 44, and Christian Academy at 4. The boys team will also compete at Decatur Central on Friday.
