The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) released the draw for the 109th Annual Boys Basketball State Tournament via the State Tournament Selection Show broadcast live on the IHSAA Champions Network (www.IHSAAtv.org) on Sunday evening. The State Tournament will start with the sectional round on February 26-March 2. The regional round will take place on Saturday, March 9, with the semi-state games played on Saturday, March 16, and the state finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday, March 23rd. The Warriors (9-11) will compete in Class 2A and in Sectional #44, which will be hosted by South Putnam HS. CCHS is looking for their first sectional title in Boys Basketball since 2011. Covenant will face North Putnam HS (6-16) in the first round on Tuesday, February 26 at 7:30pm. The Warriors defeated the Cougars soundly (96-45) in their regular season matchup in early December. The CCHS/NPHS winner will advance to face Cascade HS (5-16) in the sectional semifinal on Friday, March 1. On the other side of the Sectional #44 bracket, Cloverdale HS (9-13) will face Monrovia HS (14-6) in the first round (2/26 at 6:00 pm). The CHS/MHS winner will advance to face the host Eagles (14-6) in the sectional semifinal. The final will be played on Saturday, March 2. Sectional #44 bracket.
The Sectional #44 champion will move on to Regional #11 at Greenfield-Central HS, which will include the sectional champions from Sectional #41 (Hagerstown), Sectional #42 (Knightstown), Sectional #43 (Speedway), and Sectional #44 (South Putnam). The sectional champions from Sectional #41 will square off with the winner of Sectional #44, while the champions from Sectional #42 will face the champions from Sectional #43.
