The City Alliance released the draw for the Girls Basketball City Tournament this morning. The Tournament will take place on January 7-11, 2019. The field for the City Tournament is seeded 1-14, with the seeding determined by using the Sagarin ratings as of January 1.
The 2019 City Tournament looks to be one of the most balanced and competitive City Tournaments in several years. #1 seed Heritage Christian (9-5) will look to win their fourteenth consecutive City title. They have defeated #2 seed Bishop Chatard and #4 seed Cathedral in competitive contests earlier in the season, but lost a 47-44 matchup with #3 seeded Covenant Christian in early December. #2 Bishop Chatard HS (9-5) defeated CCHS (47-41 on 11/13), but has lost to HCS (52-45 on 12/7) and #4 seeded Cathedral (44-43 on 11/21).
The #3 seeded Lady Warriors Varsity team (11-4) will host #14 seeded George Washington CHS (2-7) in the first round on Monday, January 7 at 6:00 pm in a varsity only game. The winner will advance to face the winner of #6 C.A. Tindley AS/#11 Emmerich Manual HS on Tuesday, January 8. The JV team will open up their City Tournament on Tuesday, January 8 by hosting C.A. Tindley AS at 6:00 pm.
The semifinals and finals will be all be webcast LIVE on Indiana Sports Radio Network (SRN) and the IHSAA Champions Network for the first time this year. The semifinals will be played at 6/7:30pm on Thursday, January 10 at Cathedral HS, with the finals to be played at CHS on January 11 in conjunction with the JV final.
