Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Swimmers Reach the Podium at City Meet

The Covenant Swim team had a solid outing on Saturday at the City Swimming & Diving Championships at Arsenal Tech HS.  2018 City Swim Meet results.

On the Girls side, Sophomore Alexis Priesthoff placed second in the 50 Freestyle, swimming the event in 27.76, just .44 of a second out of first place.  Priesthoff was on the podium again in the 100 Freestyle, placing third with a 1:02.70.  Priesthoff’s two finishes earned 33 points, which placed CCHS in sixth place.  Cathedral HS took first place in the Girls Meet.

On the Boys side of the meet, Junior Dawson Fink took second place in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events.  Fink broke both of his program records in those events, swimming the 50 in 23.82 and the 100 in 52.82.  He was just .2 seconds off of the City Champion pace in the 50, and .41 seconds off the pace in the 100.  His previous program records were 23.99 in the 50 and 54.49 in the 100.  Freshman Brenner Lampton set new PRs in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events, placing 15th in the 50 (30.64) and 13th in the 100 (1:11.05).  These finishes scored CCHS 40 points, good enough for sixth place out of eight teams.  Heritage Christian School won the boys City title.

The Warriors will be back in the pool on Wednesday, January 2 at Indian Creek HS at 5:30 pm, in a meet that includes Cardinal Ritter HS, Eastern Hancock HS, Indian Creek HS, and Scecina Memorial HS.
