The Girls Basketball team struggled for consistency and to get on the same page on Tuesday night, leading to a 52-42 loss to Lafayette Central Catholic HS. The program also held it’s first Alumni Night, welcoming back over twenty former players. The alumni players were recognized between the varsity and JV games, and they held a shooting contest for the alumni at halftime of the varsity contest.
Covenant battled through their struggles to keep the game competitive, trailing just four at halftime. The game stayed close until late in the contest, when CCHS had to foul to stop the clock, and LCC pulled away. Senior Bailey Everett led CCHS scorers with 13 points, while Ilani Williams-Harris scored 11 and grabbed seven rebounds.
Long-time Covenant PA announcer Mike Owen, who retired this season, was recognized before the game for his 12+ years of service.
Covenant will host the Indy Blazers on Tuesday night and then Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School on Thursday night, before hitting the road again at Guerin Catholic HS on Saturday.
