The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) released the draw for the 46th annual Football State Tournament on a live webcast Sunday night on the IHSAA Champions Network (www.ihsaatv.org). Covenant (8-0), who will play in Class 1A in Sectional #45, will host Traders Point Christian HS (7-1) on Friday, October 19 in the first round. CCHS, currently ranked #9 in the 1A Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA), defeated TPCHS, who is currently ranked #16, 21-7 in the regular season this past Friday. This will mark the first time that the Knights will play in an IHSAA Football sectional. The CCHS/TPCHS winner will move on to face C.A. Tindley Accelerated School (3-5), who drew the bye, in the sectional semifinals. In the other side of the bracket, South Putnam HS (2-6) will host Shortridge HS (2-5) and T.C. Howe CHS (6-2) hosting Indiana School of Deaf (4-4). The SPHS/SHS winner will face the Howe/ISD in the other semifinal. The sectional semifinals will be played on Friday, October 26, with the sectional final on November 2.
The Sectional #45 winner will face the Sectional #46 (Cambridge City Lincoln, Edinburgh, Hagerstown, Lutheran, North Decatur, Oldenburg, South Decatur, and Tri) winner in regionals. The regional round will be played on November 9, with the semi-state rounds played on November 16. The State Finals will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium, with Class 2A, 4A, and 6A on November 23, and Class 1A, 3A, and 5A playing on November 24.
