The Girls Golf team competed in Sectional #19 of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) State Tournament on Friday at South Grove Golf Course. The Lady Warriors shot a 375 as a team, good enough for sixth place overall. The top three teams in the sectional advance to the regionals, as well as the top three individuals not on advancing teams. Senior Faith Egenolf struggled a bit on Friday, but shot an 83. Her score will allow her to advance as an individual.
Carmel HS, who finished the season ranked #4 in the state on the IHSGCA Coaches Poll, came out as the sectional champion, shooting a 288 as a team. #6 ranked Guerin Catholic HS took second with a 300, while #7 ranked Westfield shot a 305 for the final spot as a team. Junior Anna Cooper just missed the cut as an individual, shooting an 87 for the day, with a 40 on the front nine. Juniors Kenzie Amico (101), Grace Flasher (104), and Ellie Daughtery (117) all shot their personal best scores on Friday.
Egenolf will advance to the regional at Smock Golf Course on Saturday, September 22 at 8:30am. The Roncalli regional will be one of the toughest in the state, in that five of the top ten teams in the polls will be in that regional. The top three teams in the regional will advance to the state finals, as well as the top five individuals not on teams advancing. The State Finals will be played at Prairie View Golf Club on September 28 and 29.
