The Football team used solid defense on it’s way to a 24-0 win over Crispus Attucks HS on Friday night, moving the team’s record to 3-0 on the season. The Warriors jumped out to a 6-0 lead on their first possession of the night, as Senior Jonah Bronger ran a 24 yard touchdown in for the lead.
The defense made that lead stand up the rest of the night, as the offense struggled to click. The Warriors had six sacks of the Tigers’ quarterback Freshman Chris Patterson. Senior Andrew Coleman led the way with three of those six sacks, while Sophomore Kyle Berry picked up two and Senior Chile Mulumba added another. Sophomore Trey Flatt had three tackles for loss and an interception to help limit Attucks to just three yards rushing and 98 yards of total offense. Sophomore Gage Coffey also had a big strip and fumble recovery in the first half that took away one of the Tigers’ best drives of the night.
Bronger totaled 114 yards on the ground with two touchdowns, while Senior Austin Anderson added the other tally. The Warriors defense added a safety in the second half on a holding call in the endzone to round out the scoring.
