The Boys Soccer team (1-3) picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, as they traveled to Providence HS, and came away with a 1-0 win. The game pitted two ranked teams, with CCHS coming in with the #7 ranked in Class 1A, and the Pioneers being ranked #4.
Sophomore Eli Martin put home a rebound goal off a free kick from Senior Gabe Byrd 23 minutes into the game, and the defense and Senior goalkeeper Jacob Susud made that goal stand up with their first shutout of the year.
Coach David Pfeifer said that his team did well with possession, and really began clicking as a team. The early start to this season has had some growing pains for the Warriors, coming off a state runner-up season in 2017, but CCHS looks to be starting to round into form.
Covenant returns to the home pitch on Tuesday, as they host the Irish of Cathedral HS at 5/6:30 pm.
