Andrew Gossel was hired as CCHS' fourth athletic director in spring 2003. Some of the major aspects of change during Gossel's 12+ years at Covenant have been the development of the athletic facilities as well as continued growth and organization to the athletic programs offered. Since Gossel has come to Covenant, several new teams and sports have been added to those offered (girls' golf, boys' and girls' swimming, girls' JV soccer, girls' club lacrosse, boys' club volleyball, and football). Gossel has helped to oversee the construction of the baseball facility (Warrior Park) at CCHS, and has been working in the design of an all-weather track, softball field, concession stands and bathrooms, and improved parking. Gossel is also the Warriors' varsity baseball coach.
Before coming to Covenant, Gossel spent six years at Arlington Baptist School in Baltimore, MD. At ABS, Gossel taught Physical Education and Bible and spent time as an assistant athletic director and then 3 years as the boys' athletic director before moving to Indiana. Andy also coached varsity basketball and varsity baseball and was the Head of Athletic Field Maintenance while at Arlington. He was awarded the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) 2002 High School/Parks Baseball Field of the Year Award. Gossel is a 1997 graduate of Baptist Bible College of PA (now Summit University) with a degree in Bible and Physical Education. Andy is a member of both the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) and the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (IIAAA). He has also served STMA on both the Awards Committee (2009-2011) and Education Committee (2012), as well as their national board of directors, as the Director of the K-12 segment of membership (2013-14).
Gossel and his wife Laura were married in June 1997. They have two sons, Ty, 14, and Jake, 12, and a daughter, Elyssa, who is nine years old.
Brenda Fike joined the athletic department staff in the fall of 2004. Her roles include helping to coordinate schedules, transportation, and is a liaison with the athletic booster club.
Fike and husband Brian have three children (Josh [Brownsburg, '01], Katie [CCHS, '02] and Julia [CCHS, '05]).
