The sectional prelims proved to be a huge night for the Covenant girls swim team. The Warriors turned in their best times of the season in nearly every event. Of special note are two schools records that were toppled in the process. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Ava Smith, Shelby Olmstead, Gretchen Monday, and Nyah Cottee-Pruitt finished in 1:56.59 to break the 2023 school record of 1:56.62 by 3/100ths of a second. The previous record was set last year by Olmstead, Raygan Shepherd, Lily Tranbarger, and Lily Nicholson. Smith was able to eclipse Christianna Parell's 2009 100 Backstroke record of 1:05.07 when she turned in a 1:04.63, good enough for fifth place in the sectional prelims. Two days later she bested he own record with a 1:03.89 and placed third in the sectional finals. Great job to these girls and to all of the Lady Warrior swim team on an excellent season!
